Ohio auto accident seriously injures passenger

The decision to allow another person to drive is often made without hesitation, especially if that driver is a friend or relative. However, if that party then makes a critical lapse in judgment, a serious auto accident may occur. One such accident resulted in an Ohio man suffering serious injuries.

The wreck occurred on a recent Friday evening. The 20-year-old driver of a pickup truck was allegedly driving without due caution as he entered a curve in the road. As the vehicle strayed over the dividing line, another vehicle was approaching. The 45-year-old female driver of that pickup took evasive actions to avoid a head-on collision. Her vehicle struck the rear of the first, which proceeded off of the traffic lane and collided with a tree.

The 19-year-old passenger was not restrained and was thrown from the interior of the cab. He was transported by emergency crews to a nearby hospital and later transferred to a second facility better equipped to treat his injuries. Neither of the drivers suffered serious wounds in the crash and did not require hospitalization.

Ohio officials stated that their investigation is not complete and that it is believed that alcohol may have contributed to the auto accident. No further information concerning the victim's current condition was released, though he may have a lengthy recovery ahead of him, depending on the severity of his injuries. Though the victim was not using his seat belt at the time of the wreck, it appears that it was the actions of the first driver that caused this wreck. In these situations, victims may consult an experienced personal injury attorney in order to research the merits of filing a civil suit in an attempt to recoup some of the monetary losses caused by these accidents.
