Two-vehicle car accident in Ohio seriously injures 2 children

Memorial Day weekend signals the unofficial start of the summer season and that means many more children may be out traveling with their parents. This can lead to a greater increase in the number of children who suffer injury from being involved in a serious car accident. One recent wreck in Ohio resulted in two young children suffering injuries.

According to the initial reports, the accident occurred on Memorial Day in the late morning hours. A 24-year-old man was operating his pickup truck along a local road. As he was headed in a westerly direction, he reportedly approached a stop sign at a crossroads. The driver did not stop at the sign and continued into the roadway.

A minivan approaching the same intersection was hit by the truck. The impact carried both vehicles off of the street. Neither the driver nor his wife suffered any injuries in the collision. The couple was traveling with four of their children; two of whom did suffer serious injuries. A 3-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital, and a 4-year-old required transportation by helicopter.

Ohio officials stated that the pickup truck driver was unharmed and was not suspected of being under the influence of any intoxicating substances. Officials have not yet filed any charges against him in regards to this car accident, though the investigation is not closed. The nature of the children's injuries was not disclosed, but they may both face an extensive recovery. The parents may choose to seek their own form of justice through the filing of a personal injury lawsuit against the driver deemed liable for their children's pain and suffering. When successful, these cases can provide a monetary award that can help ensure that the victims receive all of the care necessary to meet their needs now and into the future.
