Ohio car crash causes injuries to drivers

Many people may associate late nights or rush hours with a higher risk for being involved in a traffic accident. However, a serious car crash can occur any time of day without warning. A mid-day wreck in Ohio resulted in two people suffering serious injuries.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a head-on collision along Route 158 on a recent weekday. According to the accident report on file, a van was traveling in the southbound lane while a pickup truck was proceeding in the northbound lanes. For reasons that are still unclear, the female driver of the van veered out of her travel lane and collided head-on with the truck.

Rescue personnel transported both drivers to area medical facilities by ground. The driver of the van reportedly suffered critical injuries. The male driver of the truck was stated to be stable, though no further details concerning his condition were provided. There was no indication that either vehicle was carrying any other passengers besides the drivers.

Ohio police are still conducting their investigation and there has been no explanation as to what may have led to this horrific car crash. If it can be determined that the accident was the result of driver error on the part of the van's operator, then local officials may decide to file charges against her. The male driver may have suffered extensive injuries that could require a prolonged recovery time. If evidence shows that his injuries were the result of negligence or other actions on the part of the other driver, he may choose to pursue compensation for his monetary damages by way of a personal injury claim filed through the civil court system.
