Ohio Supreme Court: Lawsuit For Insurance Must Be Filed Within One Year

When you or a loved one has suffered bodily injury, wrongful death, or property damage, and there is insurance to protect against that loss, the first thing you need to do is to check your insurance claim to see how long you have to make an insurance claim, and, if the claim is improperly denied, how long you have to file suit on that claim. The Ohio Supreme Court, in DOMINISH v. NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COMPANY, held that person seeking homeowner's insurance coverage had to to file suit within one (1) year, which, unfortunately, had not been done, such that there was no available insurance. If you need help making a claim under a policy of insurance, or if you believe your attorney has committed legal malpractice by missing a time deadline, we invite you to contact our firm for a free consultation.
